ModWood Flame Shield® delivers premium composite deck boards that combine a traditional timber look with the highest fire-safety certification for use in bushfire-prone regions.

Key Features & Certifications

• Fire performance – specially formulated with a fire retardant additive, certified to meet BAL40 standards under AS 3959-2018 (also suitable for BAL12.5, BAL19, BAL29 zones).
• Unique in Australia – the only wood–plastic composite BAL40 decking option, more visually appealing than steel or aluminium alternatives.
• Slip resistance – features a deep embossed surface to achieve R11 slip resistance (AS 4586:2013), suitable for wet or public areas.

Eco Credentials & Composition

• Locally made – manufactured in Victoria with up to 90% recycled or reclaimed materials, including HDPE plastics and plantation pine sawdust.
• Eco-certified – Global Green Tag™ Green Rate Level C, assuring sustainable and low-emission product standards.
• Recycled content – each metre of board contains roughly 37 plastic bottles and 2 kg of reclaimed pine fibre.

• 10-year residential warranty (commercial applications may have 7-year coverage)
• Certified as a system – requiring strict compliance with fixing instructions (4mm gaps, ventilation clearances, non-combustible substructure) to maintain BAL certification and warranty.

Durability & Maintenance

• Designed to resist moisture, mould, warping, splitting, termites, and fading.
• No painting or sealing required – simply rinse or wipe with mild detergent when required.
